Dear friends,
Good Day!
In today's article, I am glad to share a simple WWW formula and few examples for doing Self-introduction! Happy reading!!
Introduction is the key part and the first step in any group conversation or interview or in any new forum. In this article, we present three tips!
WWW - Here are the three “W”s we need to keep in mind when doing a self-introduction:
- W #1 - Where are you from?
- W #2 - What do you do?
- W #3 - What are your special skills/hobbies/favorites?
FEW examples for explaining W #1:
- I’m based in Chennai, but I live in Perambalur. This phrase is used when you want to make it clear that your current living situation is temporary, or you do a lot of traveling because of your job.
- I’m a colleague of Nithya’s. When introducing yourself in a group or at an event (like a party or a conference), it’s helpful to explain your connection to other people in the group or event. Similar phrases include: I work together with Nithya, Nithya and I work together in ADWHS School, Thiruvarur.
- I’m the father of two young girls. You can use this phrase if you want to say something about your family (it’s also a simple way for parents to explain why they don’t have much “free” time). Similar phrases include: I’m the daughter of two teachers / I’m one of five children / I’m the son of Retired Headmaster Ganapathy.
FEW examples for explaining W #2:
These phrases are good for both formal situations like job interviews, as well as casual situations like parties.
- I work at Reliance in the Marketing Department. This phrase also works for students: I study Visual Communications at Loyola College / I’m a student at MIT in the Mechanical department.
- I have worked at Government Nandanar School since 2005 / for 10 years. Details about time are nice to include in your self-introduction, but remember that English requires a different verb tense (known as the present perfect) when you use the prepositions for or since.
- I’m responsible for managing the social work campaigns. When introducing yourself to people in the same company or department, you can use this phrase to describe the most important thing you do. Similar phrases include I’m in charge of and I deal with.
- I hold a master’s degree in Chemistry from Bharathidasan University. This phrase is useful when you want to highlight your educational achievements.
FEW examples for explaining W #3:
These phrases are for adding that extra information about you - which you share depending on the people you are talking. You could share what you feel as special skills (or) what do you do in free time (or) what do you like/dislike in general about people or specific about food/art & crafts/interests/movies/personalities.
- I have dedicated my life to helping others. For 35 years, I was a professional nurse at Army hospital.
- I am good at acrylic painting and drawing different kinds of art like Mandala art and Zentangles. I learnt it myself by watching YouTube videos.
- I love cooking different dishes. I keep trying many recipes in free time from internet and YouTube.
- I like watching Tamil films. My favorite actor is Kamalhaasan. I watch his TV programs also.
- I like to keep myself active. My hobbies are reading books, listening to music and playing carrom with my children
Bye for now 👋
